The One&2 Story

The One&2 Story began with our son Hamish.

Diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes on the 31st of October 2011 at the age of 4, Hamish is a (not so little anymore!)  boy who we think is brave beyond belief, incredibly pragmatic and hilariously funny. He tackles this most frustrating of diseases with the maturity of someone far beyond his years. Whether he is surfing, playing soccer, snowboarding, motorbike riding, studying – anything he turns his mind to – he does it with the attitude of #diabeteswontstopme.

It was Hamish who got us thinking that anything to do with living with Diabetes, those ‘accessories’ we all need to function each day, can sometimes be tough to track down. So we set about finding the most stylish, fun and useful products from around the world so that we could bring them to the millions of Diabetics living in Australia. We hope you like what we find.

Our Type 1 story unfortunately didn’t stop there when our daughter Lyla was diagnosed on the 24^th of May of 2022 age 11 years. Like her brother, Lyla is also incredibly brave, funny, and resilient and follows the same passions and commitment to give it a go as her older brother. We joke that Lyla is a triple threat of autoimmune as she is also a Coeliac and was also diagnosed with Graves’ Disease at the same time as her T1 diagnosis, requiring an immediate thyroidectomy.

Despite all their challenges, they live their life to the full. They are our heroes.
